About Us
Neighborhood Cleaners is locally owned and operated by Gene and Cindy Thurston and is very proud to offer a revolutionary and completely environmentally friendly dry cleaning service to the Lake Oconee area. Neighborhood Cleaners is unique in that they operate one of only two dry cleaning plants in the entire state of Georgia that utilize the environmentally friendly GreenEarth cleaning system.
Unlike traditional dry cleaners which use "perc" or perchloroethylene, the GreenEarth process uses no hazardous chemicals. GreenEarth uses a pure silicone based solvent to help ensure clean clothes and a clean environment. It has no harmful residue to affect the clothes wearer. It has no harmful chemical affect on the team handling and processing your clothes. Clothes have a soft, clean feel. Unlike "perc" GreenEarth will not cause any pollution to the air, water, or soil.
Ninety percent of dry cleaners still use perc, the industry standard solvent since the 1950's, classified by the EPA as a toxic air contaminant and a probable human carcinogen. We trust that our clients will appreciate this environmentally safe alternative and the difference it makes not only for our environment but for their clothes as well.
One of the most noticeable differences with the GreenEarth process is the lack of the dry cleaning odor. Clothes just look and feel better. They are softer with more body, colors remain brighter longer, and whites are whiter.
Neighborhood Cleaners offers a pickup and delivery service operating daily that currently serves most of the communities around Lake Oconee. We work hard to make it as easy as possible for our neighbors to do business with us.
